Is IPL spoiling Indian cricket?
IPL, the cash-rich cow of the BCCI had a significant impact on the Indian cricket team since its inception in 2008. The retirement of many senior players and the selection of young players have made the BCCI realize that Indian cricket can reach greater heights by infusing young blood into the team.
It was true to some extent if you look at the significant increase in the team's bench strength. We have specialist players for any format of the game and we were able to send a test team and a t20 team at the same point in time.
However, the same blessing has turned into a curse for team India.
Due to the huge list of players, There are a lot of quality players warming the bench and every player has a fear of being dropped even though they perform well.
Many of the players have started prioritizing the Leagues such as IPL over their international tournaments. There are open debates on Indian players taking rest in between International tournaments citing workload management whereas they came to play a full-length IPL season with full dedication.
In this fast-phased world, The 20-over tournaments like IPL are getting popular and the support for 50-over ODI and Test matches is deteriorating slowly.
As hardcore cricket fans, We love franchise-based cricket with an expectation that our favorite franchise players will perform on the National side.
