How to successfully achieve your new year resolution
So there is no wonder that we select the very first day of the year to do this. That's how new year's resolutions would have come into existence.
But how many of us end the year with the same level of enthusiasm that we start? Very few.
We take a lot of time to select a goal or new year resolution to work on but we do not weigh them properly.
Let's get through the few best ways to make the most of this year.
Set more than a goal. Sounds strange right? Let's say I set a goal for this year - You want to secure a promotion or score high in your academics. It's important to channel your time and efforts into this goal but how long can you spend on it for a day? You may need a secondary goal that can help you recover and rejuvenate. You can set a secondary goal to lose some weight or exercise for 30 mins.
There is one common and well-known technique to set a goal. Make your goal SMART - Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound. For example, I want to get rich. This is not a smart goal. I want to increase my income by 25% by end of this year. This goal sounds SMART.
Avoid setting goals that are contradicting each other. I want to save enough to buy a home this year and I also want to travel to my dream destinations. While one goal needs saving and the other goal may lead you to unplanned expenses.
Set smaller goals that support your main goal. If you are planning to lose weight, You can select another goal to participate in a marathon. The marathon preparation will expedite your weight loss goal.
Not all days go as planned. There are days when we may not be able to give our best. Don't let one bad day ruin your progress. It is OK to excuse you for a day. Tomorrow is another new day to start working towards your goal.
