How insulin brought back kids from jaws of death to Life
Medical Invention always deserves a big round of Applause. A disease without a cure will be a pandemic taking away the lives of people.
When the disease is not age bounded, There are no words to explain the level of sorrow it brings.
Insulin was first used in the treatment of diabetes on 11 January 1922 Insulin was discovered by Sir Frederick G Banting, Charles H Best, and JJR Macleod at the University of Toronto in 1921 and it was subsequently purified by James B Collip.
Before 1921, people with Type 1 diabetes won't survive for more than a year or two.
In 1922, There was a hospital ward with Children dying from diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA). The view of grieving family members awaiting to bid farewell to their tiny little one will tear your heart apart.
In one of medicine's more dramatic moments Banting, Best, and Collip went from bed to bed, injecting an entire ward with the new purified extract. Before they had reached the last dying child, the first few were awakening from their coma, to the joyous exclamations of their families.
Life cannot be contained. Life always finds a way.
