7 Gmail hidden features - Very Useful
Gmail is the most popular email service used by majority of the internet users as their primary email account.
There are several gmail features that we don't know or oversee it's use.Let's have a look at some of them.
One email account with multiple email IDs
Do you have a dot in you email id? Your email id with or without any number of dot (.) are the same.
For example, our google account is thatzmag@gmail.com.thatzmag@ gmail.com or thatz.mag@gmail.com or t.h.a.t.z.m.a.g@gmail.com are the same and we receive an email when the sender sends email to any of these ids.
Plus extension
Everyone of us sign up or register our email id on online websites & retail shops and end up getting tons of emails into our inbox.
Trick them by using this trick. You can add plus extension followed by suffix on your email ID. For example, user avy@gmail.com signs up to thatzmag.com
with an email id
avy+thatzmag@gmail.com. Now the emails received to your email box will have that suffix to tell you whether thatzmag is the culprit.
Additionally you can use this trick to setup filter you emails.
Forgot an attachment
It is very common that we write "attached the document" and missed to attach one.
You will never miss one when you use gmail. Gmail has an inbuilt feature which scans you email and show a pop up if you used the word "attached" and missed an attachment.
Categorize and mark you important mails
We often mark all our important mails received with a "yellow star". However the mails may be from your friend or your bank or an offer letter company.(Three different important mails in 3 categories).
Go to the Gear box > Settings > Stars. You can now add in different colored stars, for 1*, 2* and so on. If you make 2* red, then when you go back to your inbox and star a message it will still go yellow for 1*. But then, you can click for a second time and it will turn red!
If you want to search for 2* messages that are red, go to the search bar and type in: "has:red-star".
Faster loading
Even in the lightening speed Internet age, we may get stuck with a slow Internet connection. You can switch to a basic version of Gmail which will load faster and allow you to carry out basic actions.
To get there, just add ?ui=html to the standard Gmail URL. It should look like this:
Adding an image inline
We generally send images are an attachment. If you want to add an image in the body of the email, You can drag and drop the image into your gmail message window
Undo send in Gmail
Sometimes you just realize after hitting the send button. you have sent the message to a wrong recipient or you have accidentally shot an incomplete email.
Enable the Undo Send feature in the labs section of your settings and set the undo time(up to 30 seconds).
