What is Facebook freebasics?

Free Basics, a part of the Internet.org is Facebook initiative to provide free internet access to a range of free basic services like news, maternal health, travel, local jobs, sports, communication, and local government information.

This service  is expected to  to offer these services to a billion people across Asia, Africa and Latin America and improve thier lifestyle. 


Countries like India have reject this initiative as this is against net neutrality. This initiative will give much control over to a private firm on what common man can see in Internet.

However this is available  in more than 40 countries and Facebook in talk with US local carriers to bring free basics to US. However the top carriers of US are not happy about that.
