Face recognization - Apple's next move in smartphone world?

Apple has recently acquired Emotient, A company specialized on automated facial expression recognition.

It's technology can recognize different facial expressions such as anger,fear,happiness,sadness etc...

A software can recognize this type of emotions but identifying a variety of changes that happens in human face. For instance, A curve lips represents a smile where as an inverted curve represents a sad face. There are many more such factors which can be used to identify the emotion in the face.

Apples didn't reveal anything about what it is planning to do with this newly acquired technology.

At this point. The latest digital cameras and smartphone comes up with a face detection and smile detection feature but this emtion detector is definitely an eye catching feature. Just imagine what will happen if someone can identify what is going through your mind. :)
